OT-I'm a sicky girl

Dachsaholic on My Blog - Thu, April 17 2008

OK, IP friends I have a question. Since my mom has gone to live with the angels, I can't call her and tell her how bad I feel. My MIL is at work and I'm sure would love to hear from me but I don't have her work number. When should I give in and go to the doctor? I've had a fever for 2 days(tops of 102)now along with aches, runny nose, stuffy head, coughing, etc. I have literally been in bed most of the time which is unlike me. I figure it's just a bad cold but my hubby is on me to go to the doctor. I don't usually go until I really feel bad. I'm a little concerned since tomorrow is Friday and if I feel worse, the doctor will be closed over the weekend. Has anybody used the Minute clinics? I thought that could be a backup if I needed it. I'm really glad the vet appt got cancelled because I wasn't sure I could make it anyway. I'm heading back to bed but I'll check in later. Thanks, Monica

I would get yourself to a vet (sorry, physician). A fever over 102 in humans is indicative of a bacterial infection. While it may pass on its own, there is no need to suffer (or let it potentially get worse). Seriously, though fevers are not normal in adults, and you should really get in to see someone.

I would definitely call your doctor's office and talk to them about it. I think they'll tell you to come in.

I would call your doctor's office and see if you can either get in today or tomorrow. Just in case you need a prescription. A friend from work went to an emergency clinic cost her twice as much as her co-pay and then the doctor said he couldn't write her a prescription for what she needed because he didn't know her medical history.

I'd go see your trusty doc. Just for the record...I never ran a fever :) I didn't give that part to you.... On Monday I went to the dr. and he put me on that Z-Pack of antibiotics for bronchitis. Today I feel like a new person! MUCH BETTER!! Woohoo!! Get well soon.

Ditto to what everyone else has said. Remember to drink plenty of fluids, as a high temp can dehydrate you. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Someone I work with had that and ended up in the hospital for a week getting fluids pumped into her. Listen to hubby.

Please go to the doctor. If any of your animals had symptoms like that for as long as you have had, you would have them there in a heartbeat. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, even if the MD says it's a virus. Otherwise stay in bed, drink lots of fluids, and let Jerry take care of you. Take liberal doses of Doxie love PRN (as needed.)
