Yeah, I noticed that but was too lazy to login. I hate when things are not spelled correctly especially on signs. You know what else makes me crazy? Misuse of bring and take. And you see that one a lot! Also I've seen less and fewer interchanged quite a bit recently including in the paper. Drives me crazy!
When I was younger my petpeeves included the double negatives and simply misuse of words. (You know the types, back when there were only "fishes" if it meant more than one species of fish and only pronouncing "often" with two -ff and not -ft). However, now I break into a hysteria when I see "towards" instead of "toward" and the wrong usage of "which" and "that." Sigh...I should just go back to my science books. They won't disappoint me.
Bless you. I always have someone edit my articles. Also, as someone in the newspaper industry, I have to tell you that there is something about making something final that makes typos really stand out. I've had three people read a headline, and then I see the paper off the press and a typo in the headline jumps out at me and everyone else, when it didn't in the proofing stages. That said, on websites, if someone tells me we have a typo, I fix it as soon as possible.
Daddy is the same way. He was a sports editor for a newspaper and loves to point out errors in papers. It is his pet peeve too.
