Throwing Up

Cindy Lu on Health - Thu, April 17 2008

For the past couple of mornings after eating, I have been throwing up. I eat at least three or four times, I even take it from the others. So mom doesn't know if that is why or not. But I always feel fine, no coughing or anything before. Then afterwards I take off running. Am I okay? Or should mom give me some medicine?

You are being a little piggy. I bet bet because you are stealing it from the others, you gulp it down too fast and back up it comes. Is the food undigested?

Yeah the food is digested yet. It usually happens about five to ten minutes after.

Have you switched food recently? My cats do this sometimes, but generally only for a day then it's over for awhile. It hasn't happened since I switched to Bravo, but with dry cat food and especially canned catfood it happened a lot.

No, she's been eating the same kind.

My mom is in a tizzy this week because her cat can't keep down food or water, but is acting fine otherwise. He is at the vet right now and undergoing Barium treatments because they can't figure out what is going on. His blood work came back fine???

Did you read the post about how much mercury is showing up in cats -- they think due to the mercury in the fish used in commercial cat food? I was astounded. Someone posted that here today.

You might try some yogurt or something with priobiotics (did I spell that right? I doubt it). My vet gave me some for my really old cat who used to throw up a lot and it did help. It's the good bateria all guts need to process stuff right.
