Yes, I do understand that too many dogs (Kirby) are oblivious to everything and everyone. He barks, but only when it's convenient for him and usually for no apparent reason. Will your dad be gone long? It's very exhausting being in charge and you're so tiny. Remember to drink plenty of water and eat carbs. Don't forget to potty. Pace yourself. I'm here for you if you need advice.
Uh, ya, when you're the big cheese on campus you're supposed to get a name change. That way, everyone you're in charge of knows that you are in work mode. I'm sure when Hoover's in charge his name is Hoovie, House Protector or something like that. And when you get to be in charge, BFF, I'm sure your name could be something like Lola, Lawn Enforcement Officer. Large Marge just has a nice ring to it, ya know? Of course I had to be in charge. What was Freckles's name going to be? Farmer Freckles?? 'Fraidy Freckles? Pfffftttth.
Maggie, my friend, our work is never done is it?? I am on 24 hour guard duty here too. I just can't depend on little Skipster, he is only vocal outside! So I keep an eye and ear out for all sounds inside and in the hallway and in the yard and in the street and, whew, I think I need a raise! More treats Mom!!!!
I am so with you, Sweetie....big barks inside outside...wherever!!! Maggie...keep up the surveillance. It's tough bein' in charge!!!!!
Last night was a pretty typical night. I went straight to bed after dinner and stayed there until it was time for Last Call. Then Freckles and I slept with mom on the big bed. At 3am, Freckles did the usual whining and pacing on the bed. She usually has to potty once during the night. She contemplates jumping off the bed, and I'm right there, to bark at her and nip her in the butt as she jumps down. Yup, it was a typical night.
I love your new picture Large Marge. I am extra vigilant as well. I stand on the back of the sofa so I can look out on 62nd Street, and there is a LOT to bark at there. When mom is tired of me barking at that location she kindly moves me into one of the bedrooms where I can be vigilant in a new territory. After that "gets old, Sydney" she lets me go out back and REALLY let loose with the barking. I can patrol freely there and make sure the entire perimeter is secure. My least favorite words are "that's enough, Sydney." It's never enough.
