Pet Dumping

Susan on Grief - Sat, April 12 2008

Check out this great, yet very frustrating, article I found during my herp rescue research...

Then there is the obvious dumping of pets. Mommy put herself in a very dangerous position one night. She saw a man dumping a cat out of the drivers door of a pickup. She got right up to him and got between the open door and the pickup. She asked him if he was dumping a cat. No, he was not. The cat belonged to his neighbor and he was taking it home. She never saw that pickup in the area again. The cat hit the pavement and ran off. I hate people like that. Have any of you read the poem " I Found Your Dog Today"? If not, it is worth posting.

There is a car at Mom's work that everyday they bring their puppy to drop off the kids at the daycare. While they run the kids inside, they take the dog's leash & slam it in the car door. This poor pup is about 15mo old and barks horribly while the owner is gone. When she returns, she puts the dog in the car and leaves. Mom has told the security guards (who stated they were aware of it but didn't seem to do anything about it) and has also confronted the owner of the dog. When asked why lock it outside the car, the owner said it wasn't house trained yet and was destructive if left alone in the car. When asked then why not leave the dog at home, the owner said nothing and tried to avoid Mom and left. SOOOO agrivating! It's a puppy - they need training but locking it outside a car is NOT the way to train this dog.

OJO, has your mommy called animal control? This is cruel. If this happens in public what happens at home? The puppy must be very frightened. I hate people like this. They should never own a pet.

The owner is lucky the dog hasn't been 1) let loose; 2) hit by another car in the lot or WORSE. I also think the dog is in a poor condition at home because when it was approached, it showed all the signs of being hit by humans in the past (ducking, back peddling, etc).
