Need Snake Rescue

Susan on Grief - Sat, April 12 2008

Woo posted a great topic about taking care of critters after your death. It was very timely for me as my friend's boyfriend has some issues I wanted to ask you all about. His 20-something son died last year of natural causes (heartbreaking!) and now he is taking care of his dog (english shorthair pointer) and his 30 - yes 30!- snakes. I don't know what kind they are. But, do any of you know of some snake rescues in southern IN, IL or KY? He's attached to them b/c of his son, but he's running himself into the ground trying to get them all fed. Apparently the son was trying to be a snake breeder. I'm going to try to look for a shorthair rescue in the area, too, just in case. Thanks for your help!

You might want to get in contact with Marty, at Indiana Turtle Rescue. (she has a profile here, look under bloodhound, or Columbo) She may know of someone who specializes in snakes. I love snakes, BTW, I had a ball python growing up. Snakes are so awesome, but I couldn't imagine trying to take care of that many, and still have a life!

I'd contact Arrowhead Reptile Rescue in Cincinnati. Let me know if they're looking for adopters. I'd be interested. :) -Rachel

Great - I'll let them know on both counts!
