Do you ever have days like these?

Kris on My Blog - Thu, April 10 2008

Someone posted something about helping the Madison County Humane Society and I clicked on the link. I ended up on Petfinder looking at all the available dogs and cats at their shelter and I just got this overwhelmingly sad feeling. It's such a reflection of our throw away society and it's making me feel so hopeless this morning. I'd sure like to see the tide turn in this struggle. You can bet your sweet bippee that I'll be at the next protest. I think I saw that it's May 17th. Sorry to be a downer this morning, but I just feel so blue about it and needed to release some of this emotion.

That is how I felt Friday after watching Oprah. I was so overwhelmingly sad.

The problem is so huge and overwhelming. It really brings me down, too.

I know what you mean. My husband and I have been wanting to adopt another dog for awhile now, but we've had to wait for one reason or another. We are finally settled enough that we thought we could look with a purpose instead of just wishing. Now, knowing that we can only rescue one, the hard part is picking one over another, we want to take them all. We've been looking at many rescue websites and there are just so many that need homes. It can be overwhelming at times. I keep saying to myself, making a difference to one is still huge.

Please turn your despair into something productive and attend the No Kill seminar in Carmel on 5/3 and 5/4. It is very reasonably priced and will give us specific guidelines about how to turn our community into a No Kill community. You can check it out at www.movetoact.org

Did I read in the paper that Mayor Ballard appointed the guy from Move to Act to a committee or something that works with animal control? Or did I just dream that?

I have those days ALL the time! Sometimes, I feel so hopeless and insignificant, like there's nothing I can do. I try to remember that every little thing I do matters in some way. It's hard though when you see the shape the world is in.
