Malamut/Husky Mix needs a home

Anne on Breeds - Tue, April 08 2008

I received this post at work... obviously, I have my own issues about not doing research before you rent an apt, but that's besides the point.. if anyone is interested, please PM me... the woman attached pictures of the dog that i can send you and i can send you her email address...

I recently moved to the west side of Indy and my landlord doesn't approve of large dogs. Of course, they didn't tell me that until I had moved in. Small dogs are okay, apparently. It is with sadness that I have to give up my malamute/husky mix named Juneau. He is a year and three months old and is a very large dog. He will top out at 140lbs. He is 85lbs right now. He has been fixed and is current on his shots. He has been an inside dog and is house broken. We leave him in the garage when we leave. He doesn't like to be left alone and he is a talker. He's used to being with teenagers and loves to play. He's great around cats, but small children he tends to jump on, he doesn't realize his own strength. I have never had a problem with him being aggressive towards anyone. He is a loving dog who thinks he's part human (my fault, I've had him since he was 3 weeks old). He is a loyal dog, he will need some training, he knows the basic commands and will perform tricks for treats. This is breaking my heart as he is such a good companion. If you are interested in these types of dogs, or know of someone who is, please let me know. These dogs need lots of attention and lots of play time. They are unique animals, and they have personalities that are wonderful. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

I think I would find a new apartment! But, that's just me.

I'd definitely have to find someplace else to live. No way would I give up my furbabies.

Connie I couldn't agree more. The more I think about it, the angrier I get at this person's irresponsibility. One would think that your huge dog would be the FIRST thing you mention to a potential landlord. I just don't understand some people - dogs (or any pet) are not toys that you can discard once you've lost interest in them. OK, rant done. :)

As big as he is going to get, can't they just count him as another resident?????? Sometimes people just annoy the living daylights out of me.

I've posted the pictures she sent under my profile. His name is Juneau and he looks like a wonderful dog!

How she could just give him up is beyond me.

Those don't look like pictures of a dog that is over 1 year. Does she have anything recent?

I know, they look like puppy pics to me too. I'll find out.
