This kind of thing just infuriates me! With summer coming on, we'll hear more about dog bites and the media will start it's anti-bully crusade again. Why is a dog bite such big news anyway?! How many things must happen in our city every day, and they report a dog bite. The media needs to focus on creating positive change instead of mass hysteria.
My incident with our pit bull friend Wednesday didn't really help their image... I know that he was under control but honestly, it LOOKED like he just "snapped". He tried to bite me and went after Lola. It could have been ANY breed that did this. I have to admit that until now, I've never been leary but now I just don't know. This makes me sad becuase I never want to judge a dog but Ziggy really scared me.
I'm always amazed (negatively) by the media. There's nothing wrong with pitts. Its always a people issue, not a dog issue. Having been around dogs all of my life, I know that any dog will bite given the right (wrong) circumstances. I never approach another dog without the owner's permission, and really watch my dogs around other dogs.
I have had this issue for a long time!
We always know when it is a pit bull! A year or so ago a woman was killed by her dogs! Her own dogs killed her and the only way I knew the breed was that I went on online an looked for it! The news never said that they were chows!
Any dog can bite! A pit bull is no more prone to bite than a lab.
Any doubts by anyone, you are all invited to come meet a pit bull that should be the ambassador to the breed.
