Question for the girls

Cocoa Puff on Health - Sun, March 30 2008

Ok, this is kind of embarassing but mom said it would be ok to ask. Since I can't tell mom what my life was like prior to living here, she's just had to guess what went on. I was intact when rescue took me in and had a horribly infected uterus that would have killed me if I had been spayed a day or two later. Here's something we were trying to figure out. I have some big old ginormous nipples. They might look a little smaller since I got here but not much. We know Sweetie had at least a litter and her nipples are big for her size. Pebbles never had any puppies and hers are very small. Do you think my HUGE nipples means that I had a lot of puppies? I have a fatty tumor on the one which makes it look even bigger than it really is. Mom told me I should get a bra(whatever that is). Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody knows whether your nipple size is based on number of litters that you've had. Thanks for the help. Oh, and I'm still looking for my pink dog bed at Petsmart. Mom's been to the one on 86th and the one in Castleton and looked online with no luck. It's on the endcap with the baby puppy items(jammies, toys, blankets, etc). I want the pink one that had a bunny on it(I think that's what it was). The blue one has a bear and the yellow one has a chick but I really want the pink one. It's so soft and I would love to lay on it. My tumors make it kind of hard to get comfy so mom said I can have it in my crate everyday. Thanks again, your friend Cocoa.

I'm sorry Freckles and I do not have any answers to your questions. I can say that Freckles has an odd number of nipples. I think that's weird. Anyway, I found this fab pink bed for you online...it's even on sale at just under $100! You are sooo worth it!

neither one of us has had any litters so we can't speak about sizes of anything. Sorry, CP.

My nipples are bigger than Bev's because I have had at least one litter. I had a litter close to the time I was found as a stray. They have shrunk some since then. You could be right that the more litters a dog has, the bigger they are. I wonder also if the frequency of the breeding has something to do with it also.

I took Amy to a friend of mine yesterday because I was worried about her nipple sizes. My friend thought she had probably had at least one litter and said not to worry about how they looked :) She checked her for fatty tumors and didn't feel anything.

If you remember, since I'm growing up and maturing, I asked my mom about needing to wear a bra and she said that I don't need one. You probably don't either, Cocoa. I have very tiny nipples, but then again I've never had puppies! Mom said something about nursing my human sis for 2 and a half years and how things will never be the same....she does wear a bra.

Well Cocoa Puff...neither mom or I can help w/ the nipple question. Neither one of us have had pups (or babies). Anyway, here's a link to a pink bed. Mom's ordered from PetEdge before, and everything's pretty high quality and affordable. Although Pink's not my color, this bed looks rather comfy! Only 22.99!

Now I'm really embarassed! I didn't want the boys to know about this "issue" of mine. I like both the pink beds that you guys suggested. Mom says Pet Edge is way more likely than the $100 one though. It's hell to be old. Flaky skin, sagging boobs, tumors, missing teeth. Well at least I have a nice house and a great family that doesn't care about stuff like that.

Don't be embarrassed! But, if it makes you feel any better, mom embarrassed me this weekend. I had a bath, then my girlfriend came over. Mom happened to notice that I had fluffy loose hair on my butt, and started pulling it off...right in front of my girlfriend! I had to sit and endure this embarrassment!

I don't have an answer for you, but when I brought Abby home ... I got her out of the paper ... she was not spayed yet and had really big nipples. I thought "oh my my goodness, I hope I did not just buy a pregnant dog." I took her to the vet and she was not pregnant, however, she was pseudo or fake pregnant. Her body was going throught the motions of having puppies. So, maybe your dog has hormonal issues.

I think the more litters you have the saggier and possibly larger your nipples get, particularly if they are very close together. Stevie's nipples got larger after she had her litter, but have shrunk up to their small size, but it took quite some time. I bet if she kept having puppies over and over again, that would not have been the case. My guess is that you had been bred multiple times, close together and those things never got a chance to rest!
