Chipped Teeth

Titus on Health - Fri, March 28 2008

Hi All, mom knows that I can't be the only one around here who has managed to chip a tooth or two. I had a chipped canine tooth when mom rescued me. She's been watching it to make sure it hasn't gotten any worse and recently noticed another broken tooth. I know that this means I'm going to go visit Dr. Kapke but what are the options for something like this? Do vets crown dog teeth or just pull them? Erin thinks that i'd be even cuter w/ a silver tooth. Thanks Titus

I've chipped a couple of teeth on hoofies. Mine were split so the vet just pulled the fractured part off. I did have a couple of teeth pulled because they were bad, but hopefully you won't need to have that done.

I have several chipped teeth from chewing rocks. Mine aren't bad enough to do anything about. If they're not painful, not much needs done. If they are, I'm not sure I'd recommend crowns for dogs. My vet would just pull them.

My mom has a cat I found as a stray. Most of his front teeth are chipped. I've always wondered how that happened. It looks like he was eating rocks. It's kind of funny looking, but does not seem to cause him any problems.

lol, Titus looks like he's been chewing on rocks. The two teeth that are broken are his upper and lower canines on the same side. In his case I think it was really poor nutrition and being the result of backyard breeders. When I got ahold of the poor guy he was about a 1 and a half old and didn't even weight 30lbs. No healthy pit / staff at that age should weight 26lbs. So it's obvious that he's hit the jackpot by joining my family :)

One of my front teeth seems only half there and is a little grey, should it be checked out? I don't think its bothering me.
