Does it ever end?

Joanna on Health - Thu, March 27 2008

So we just finished the whole thing with Sadie going into heat, even though we were told she was spayed. She is now "officially" fixed and is healing nicely. Of course, though, life in Joanna&AndyLand can't just coast for a while. Max has started marking... AGAIN! He's neutered, we've pulled up carpeting and put down tile, and we've Nature's Miracle-d our house to death. Problem with all of this is that his spray is a reddish color now. We were wanting to switch vets anyway, since VCA is so darn expensive, but we weren't planning on doing it until Ringo's shots were due. Ugh. So, we're going to have our first experience at a new vet under sick-kitty circumstances. Yippee! Anyone know how Allisonville Animal Hospital is? I've heard their prices are reasonable, but that's about it...

I have taken Zoe to AAH since I got her and I have always had very good experiences. They are very compassionate vets. Dr Ward is our favorite, but the whole staff is great. I feel they take great care of Zoe. They never push any extra services or meds on me.
Alena takes her furkids there too.

I was just looking into flooring this weekend. A great tip I got from the lady at Blakely's Carpet was that before you put down a new floor put a coat of KILZ on the "raw" floor before carpeting, tiling, wood...whatever. KILZ is a base coat that locks out any odors. Max must still smell his markings from before and is over marking them to make the scent stronger.

Did you check to see if Max has a bladder infection? Around Christmas, I noticed that Petey was peeing on the floor and then I noticed he had some blood in it. Come to find out he had a bladder stone that needed to be removed via surgery. Now, he has a lot of crystals in his urine so he has to be on a special diet. I take my dogs to Michigan Road Animal Hospital. They are reasonable and the service is great.

As Petey said, I would definitely check into a UTI, Gunner went through a sage of UTIs last year, which started when he began leaking in the house. We found small spots of urine on the floor (but no blood in them). This is how many UTIs start out, and you definitely want to catch them early. If he does have a UTI and you want some advice, I think I can be of some help, so don't be afraid to ask. Good luck at the vet!

Check with Alena, Stevie and Jude's mom. She swears by Allisonville.

Yup...we won't go anywhere else! Love Dr. Short to death...and Dr. Ward...he always pops in to see us too :) He just pulled Layla's teeth today and they tagteamed along with at least 4 vet techs on Stevie's C section....that doesn't happen very often :)
