Prayers please

Kelly on Grief - Tue, March 25 2008

a good friend of our K9 unit lost her bloodhound to bloat today. he is the father of my trainer's liver bloodhound. this breed is very prone to this...i pray that i never have to experience such grief as our friend is going through. he was only about 5, poor baby. the bad thing is that there really isn't a "known" reason for bloat...there are theories, but nothing for sure. there also aren't any for sure ways to avoid bloat. some people take all the precautions, and still this happens. :*(

Godspeed Mausimo........

I'm so sorry to hear that. Doxies are prone to bloat as well because of their deep chests. We'll add some puppy prayers for the both of them.

OH! My eyes leak. I hate to hear of anyone passing on before thier time. I am sooo sad. I think I must go to my chair now and ponder.

I'm so sorry. A friend of mine had a bulldog die from bloat. It's devastating because it is so sudden. You just never expect something like that to happen.

Aw, how sad... I don't know much about bloat, but I know a dog who died from it. You're friend's dog was so young...

I am so sorry to hear that. The last time we visited our daughter at Busch Gardens Williamsburg one of the female wolves developed bloat. It just came on so quickly. They were able to get her to the vet, but she did not recover. Many hugs to your bloodhound family.

So sorry to hear of this, my thoughts are with your friend. I went ahead and opted for the gastropexy surgery for Casey to avoid this since Danes are very prone to bloat.

We are so sorry this happened to your friend. Poor Mausimo. I have heard about bloat and know large breeds can get it but don't know too much about it.

I worry about bloat all the time because most of my crews' breeds are prone to bloat. I am so sorry to hear that your friend lost her beloved Mausimo. They will be in our prayers.

I'm Mausimo's owner.....and I thank everyone for there thoughts and prayers. Mausimo died of an obstruction not bloat. Although the obstruction caused gastrointestion problems the soul cause was not bloat. I loved this dog with all of my heart. A dog like this only comes into your life once in a lifetime. I love you Mausie
