I saw that letter too, and was very pleased that she stated everything we've all been talking about in such a succinct and non-angry way, but also with firm conviction. I wrote one that did not get published, but this one was very good. I am not only boycotting walking the Mutt Strut, but am not having a booth there as I had planned.
Same thing happened when I tried to read the letter. This year would have been our first time to go to Mutt Strutt so it is ashame that HSI had made poor decissions and have allienated people from donating and voluntering for their cause.
I gave a decent donation to HSI one year to treat a dog with heartworm. I've also bought toys and adopted Minnie from there. After learning more about them, I've been a little hesitant about supporting them and haven't bought toys or made a donation in a while. Now, with this new policy change, I will definitely donate my money elsewhere. ACC is definitely going to need donations!!
I remember when I first learned they would stop accepting strays I though that was so strange for a humane society- that was what I always assumed they did and that was their purpose. I do hope they change this.
Also I was just wondering: do they sponsor Mutt Strut? I've heard of the event even though I've never gone yet.
Yep! That worked. I guess I should have checked to see if it worked the way I cut and pasted it before I posted it. LOL Thanks for telling everyone how to access it!
Yes, Mutt Strut is their event, and it is a lot of fun, but I just don't think I can go. I don't understand what they do with their money. Rescues operate on far less money.
