Transport Help Needed

Butch on Activities - Mon, March 24 2008

A couple of weeks ago our mom helped out with a pet transport. It was her first time and she said she was a little nervous but everything turned out fine. She drove to Columbus and picked up a boxer, boxer-mastiff mix and a retriever. She drove the dogs up to Speedway and handed them off to the next transport driver. That driver drove the dogs to Columbus, IL and handed them off to the next driver. The dogs eventually made it to Minnesota where a rescue was waiting to help them find new homes. The dogs were sent from a very full shelter in Kentucky. They were in danger of being euthanized due to space.

My mom says pet transporting is a really great way to help dogs in rural shelters have a better chance a finding a family to love them.

There is a website www.acmepettransport.com that explains it all better than I can.

She is doing another transport this weekend and they need drivers. The information is below. If you have any questions you can send a message to my mom and she will try to answer them or put you in touch with someone who can.

This will only take a few hours out of your day and could mean a chance for a dog to find a family o their own.

Please think about it!

I did a cat transport a few weeks ago and it was great fun. I wish this one was on Sunday, then I could have maybe swung it, but Saturday, I'm booked. I encourage anyone who wants to have some fun to try a transport. I liked it.

I'm available to help on leg three. My only issue is that I drive a Cobalt coupe. The three adult dogs likely wouldn't fit in my vehichle, but even if the puppies are crated they should fit. Lynn

It's so great that people are willing to help! The transport coordinator is Molly Kendall, her cell phone is (260) 241-7464 and her email is mugsy1961@comcast.net. She is fantastic and can answer any questions you might have. I had A LOT the first time I did a transport.

The dogs I transported were great.

If you are willing to assist please send her an email and tell her what legs you are available to do. She will contact you.

Please send me a message if you have any more questions, or contact Molly directly. Transports come through Indy often and it is a really easy way to help dogs to a better life.

The transport is this Saturday. I think Molly used an old transport schedule and did not change the date.
