Oh no! D:

Veronica & Eddie on Grief - Wed, March 19 2008

So Madison must have gone into her first heat. I saw a few brown spots on our sheets, but I thought they were just old stains. Then I noticed them on the blanket on our couch, and, wait, my pants too.

It's my fault for not scheduling her spay appointment sooner.

So now we're off to buy doggie diapers. Ugh, I hope this passes soon. Does anyone know how long she will bleed for?

isn't it for a couple weeks? I'm sure Stevie / Layla's Mom will have lots of info for you.

All the pet stores were closed because it was about ten PM before I realized what was happening. I went to Meijer but they didn't have doggie diapers so I got the cheapest pull-ups I could find and prayed they would work. I cut the leg holes and have it pinned in the back (Madison's waist is so tiny!) and it seems to be staying on all right now. I feel sorry for her. I can't just crate her because I don't want to punish her for my wrongdoing. But I also don't want to deal with the stains on all my furniture. Tomorrow I will go out to the petstore and get the real deal. :( My poor baby.

This is the info I found "Every dog is different. About 14 days but the bleeding can last longer though by the end it is a yellowy colour. My girl bleeds about 3 weeks"

Yep, 3 weeks sounds about right. Just because it's not red doesn't mean she can't get pregnant. You'll have to be super careful with her because those bad boy dogs can smell it a mile away and will be all over your house trying to get to her. And those boy dogs are quick and sneaky-dumb boys.
