They are perpetual "kids" kinda like labs. They are basically lab size as well and share many characteristics. My sis has one and she loves it but they are big goofy dogs and have a lot of energy. As far as heat, the same as any other dog. Allie gets along with their little dog but is scared of dogs when they go walking. They require a firm hand, a lot of exercise and a lot of patience. They're really cute when they're little but you usually see people get rid of them about that age when they get big, clumsy and even more goofy. I personally wouldn't recommend one for you but that's just me. I could be wrong like I was with Casey. We miss you at adoptions-you should come back and help us some time.
Weims are, in essence, very needy dogs. They require a lot of exercise and training. Most have a high prey drive, and will chase small animals, including cats, if not trained otherwise. Weims are clumsy, goofy, and friendly dogs. They are prone to separation anxiety, so steps should be taken to prevent that as well. I think the best word to describe a Weim is neurotic (but I mean that is the most loving way possible). An eight month old should be nearing 50 lbs, at least, and most get up to around 70 lbs. Under supervision (to prevent accidental knocking over), they are great with kids. I think Weims are great dogs (very similar to GSPs) that just need a little extra time and effort.
