I need another boxer

Keesha on Breeds - Wed, March 19 2008

Do you know of anyone who is selling boxers in the Indy area?

I'm sure there is a boxer rescue somewhere near here. Someone should be able to help you. But if you are looking for another boxer for yourself, I think you might want to get Courtney under control before you bring another dog in. I know from experience that the new dog will definitely pick up the bad habits of the dog already in the house. And then you will have 2 hyper, out of control dogs....

Again, I have to second Rhonda. You don't want a second hyper dog if you hare having problems with Courtney.

I spoke with Jon at Central Indiana Boxer Rescue last month and at that time he said they had seven boxers under one year of age in foster care waiting for homes. You can look for the Central Indiana Boxer rescue on Petfinder.com or google them.

I would also caution you to wait until the first dog is wound down and fully trained. My older, trained dog was definately helpful with Charlie. There is no way I could have handled both of them when hyper.

Yes, Maddie was well into being trained by the time we found Sydney. Trying to get 2 untrained and completely out of control dogs trained is difficult and usually involves having to crate one while you train the other.

are you implying that we second dogs are trouble? I resemble that remark.

Quite the contrary, Roo! If you don't have the first little monster well trained, they will horn in on everything you are trying to do with the second dog. Plus, we humans are better trained by the time we have someone else come along.

Yeah, I made the mistake of getting Abby before Petey was fully trained. It is so hard to train two dogs at once.

I have my Mama perfectly trained to do my bidding and I sure don't want another pet around here getting her all confused about her role.
