Almost starved to death

Oreo on Nutrition - Mon, March 17 2008

Mom let the unthinkable happen yesterday. She let us run out of food. I'm writing about this now because I hadn't the strength yesterday as I was quickly fading away from malnutrition.

It all started Friday. Mom said "Oh my, we're very low on cat food" She scraped to bottom of the bin but there was enough. Saturday rolls around...forgets to go out for our food. She scrapes the final morsels from the bin. The very last of our food is now in our bowls.

We wake up Sunday morning, just about 12 kibbles left in our bowls... Our vet is not OPEN on Sundays ( can't buy our food anywhere else but at a vet)!! NOW WHAT?! Dingy mom! She said she new where she could get some food, there is a vet open on Sundays and she'll get some on their way home. Ok.....but we're starting to panic and weaken.

My family gets home and guess what?! That vet was OUT of our food!! We just assumed we were about to die. Just then, mom pulls out these cans of food. It is the same food we eat, just the canned kind. OH MY GOSH!!! That stuff was SOOO yummy!!!!!! We 3 cats inhaled the can of food in about 10 min.

Mom gave us the other can this morning and it was as awesome as we remembered it to be, but we missed out kibbles. Mom promised that she would get our kibbles today and she did! The BIG bag. Yay mom! Our bowls are full and so are our tummies. Tonight we can eat in the middle of the night if we so please!

We decided that we don't like change. Food needs to be in our bowls at all times. Wet food is a treat, not food. As I said, I would have written about this sooner, but I was saving my energy in case I needed it. It was a close one, but we pulled through.

Our food bin is empty, but I know mama has a bag in the car. Why is she playing this game with us?

Out of food? I didn't realize that was a possibility!? I'm worried now. What if Dad forgets? A cat cannot survive on temptation treats alone! I'm surprised you made it through. So, tell me, if it came down to it, who would you eat first? Lola? Cookie? Mom? A cat has to watch out for himself ya know.

Wow! There goes your mom's "Mother of the Year" award! Just kidding.....sometimes that happens. Those bipeds have lots of stuff to think about!

As much as I love my puppy Lola, I'd have to eat her first. She'd be the tenderest, easiest to catch and least likely to bite back. Kirby would be way too tough and would probably taste like poop.

Leave my BFF alone! Go pick on Hoover. All ya gotta do is turn the printer on. He'll be putty in your paw.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, little girl. You have NO idea how she treats me. She tackles me when I'm asleep, sitting, bathing, walking and pondering. Why? I don't know! I do love her and wrestling is fun, but DANG! I wouldn't try to eat Hoover, he'd taste too gamey. He's outside a lot. I wouldn't REALLY eat Lola, either, I guess. She's kinda cute and fun. Now if she were a tuna......
