canned senior diet suggestions

memorial to Regina on Health - Fri, March 14 2008

I'm almost 18 years old and was recently diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. I've always eatin dry food but that isn't sitting well on my stomach. My vet and Mom don't want to keep me on prednisone long term since that is hard on my kidneys and liver. So now we're researching soft or canned senior food diets. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Purs, Regina

Sorry that I don't have any suggestions for you. I just wanted to say "Congratulation" for being 18 years old. Our wonderful cat, Rusty Allan, was 17 years old when he passed away. He is missed.
I hope things get better for you.

Eagle Pac has a very good holistic line of canned cat food. You may want to check them out with your vet.

I'm a Senior too, my (and Alvin's) favorite wet foods are EVO (http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo.asp -- Chicken&Turkey, Duck, and Venison), Wellness (http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/cat_wellness_can_index.html) and my other siblings really like the canned Merrick foods (http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/canned_cat_food.php). Evo and Wellness don't have chunks, so that's why I prefer them... Merrick has lots of real meat chunks and Patches, Spokes and Cyrus prefer it.
