Wish Wiggles Good Luck

Rachael on Health - Mon, March 10 2008

Well, today's the day. Wiggles is going in for his senior exam and blood draw today. I'm a nervous wreck. He'll be twelve in April, and I know time's getting short. I'm praying everything goes okay, but I have no idea. Wiggs has been slowing down lately, and appears to have lost some weight, which worries me. Please keep his health in your thoughts.

BELIEVE ME, I know about being a nervous wreck. My oldest is 14 and she is starting to have liver problems. I cringe at the thought of losing her....I'm sure Wiggles will be fine. Keep us posted!

Good luck to you. I'm 13 now, and starting to slow down myself. I wish Wiggles all the best.

Good luck Wiggles!! You might be surprised and find that you have several more years left. My Golden Retriever lived to be 16 and probably would have lived longer if we hadn't "made the decision." Maybe you're just loosing some of your muscle mass like the old guys do...that happens and you can't really do much about it as long as they are fit. Good luck and let us know how everything comes out!

Those well wishes are going to have to keep coming. Wiggles has lost 10 pounds since last March! I knew he'd lost some weight, but not that much. His heartworm test was negative, and I'll know what his blood work is in at 6:30pm. Doc said Wiggles' stomach sounded off. He mentioned digestion problems and also worms (we take the boys off of flea medicine over the winter). I doubt it's worms, because Miles eats poop like none other, and would almost certainly have them as well. We are getting a fecal done tomorrow, though. I hope this all works out, but please send good vibes for me. I'm even more of a wreck now.

Hang in there, mama. We are all praying for a good outcome.

Thanks everyone. Wiggles blood test came back perfect. If you just saw that, he'd be the picture of health. He had a fecal done as well, which came back clear. We still got the preventative/dewormer, in case something was missed, but I don't think so. We're supposed to give him a month to gain weight, and then go on from there. We are considering a bland diet (chicken/turkey/beef and rice), but haven't completely decided yet.
