Kirby for sure knows food, supper, walkie, biscuit, cookie, sweeper, upstairs, outside and nite-nite. Now...there are times when he looks at me when I'm talking to him that I think he understands everything! I think it has mostly to do with the tone of voice I'm using. He's very smart, though. I've always said that if he had lips, he'd talk a sentence!!
Batman knows: sit, stay, stand, down, heel, finish, crate, kennel, office (when I'm at work and I want him to go to my office), take it, leave it, here (meaning run to me as fast as you can, then sit in front of me), hup (jump), tunnel (agility), bring and out. He kind of knows Place, which means I want him to go to where I am pointing and revere, which means run around a blind and find the badguy.
Joe knows: sit and down fairly well. We are working on heel and here. He also knows walk, which means on a loose leash, a word and concept Batman won't learn no matter what I say or do. He just seems incapable of the concept.
Edgar knows "watch out" which means Curt's cat-eating dog is about to go through the house, run and hide.
Cisco knows the sound of oats in a bucket.
Ginger knows the sound of a can of tuna being opened by a can opener.
Oh, Deucey, don't worry about that! I will be conceited enough for both of us. I know all my agility words: Come, Out, Here, Around, Tunnel, Tire, In, Chute, Table, Walk It, Teeter, Over, Jump, Free Dog, Sit, Down, Stand, Wait, Up, Weave, Get It, Watch Me, A-Frame or A, Heel, Finish. I know each of the Kitties' names in case mom has me help her find them. I know my manners words: No, No Kitty, Leave It, Out of There, Quiet, Off, QUIET, Stop That, Go to Your Mat, Brush Teeth, Go Lie Down. I know Crate, Go to Bed, Yummy, Food, Eat, Outside, Go for a Ride, Car, Leash, Dad, Mom. Find It, Bring It, Get It, Drop It, Give It, Take It. Some of those require a bit of discrimination so if I'm being stubborn mom might have to tell me to find it, get it, bring it, and give it in 4 steps instead of just telling me to Get It and having me understand that I also am supposed to bring it to her and give it to her after I find it. I know my trick words: Roll Over, Side, Anna Nichole (play dead,) Bark, Quiet Bark (where I just snap my jaws together,) Say Your Prayers, How Do You Do (shake,) High Five, High Ten, Baryshnikov (dance,) Spin, Sneeze, Kiss, Hugs and Kisses, Touch It, Nose (touching something with my nose instead of my paw,) Come Up (jumping from the ground into human arms,)Laugh, Shake It, Make It Cry (squeak it,) Roo Roo (making my roo roo noise) and maybe some more. Mom doesn't remember all my tricks, but I do. Then I know my toy words: Ball, Baby, Cow (the one I have to have so I can shake it when the coffee is being ground), Rope, Bone, Box. We're still working on toy discrimination, and dad is trying to shape my frequent speech into saying I LOVE YOU. Right now it sounds like RI RRR ROOO with a little growl on the end. I'm a very busy girl! Can you imagine all the trouble I would get into if we weren't constantly working on something!!!!! Just call me Hermione Granger.
Do you have any idea what I live with? This is such a hard act to follow I don't even try. I know what I need to know. Just call me Jan Brady.
Peaches, the lady asked, so I answered. I can't help it if I'm an overachiever.
Awesome! I have my own trick - the RooRoo! Do you sound like me? :-)
