speedy's fangless, but fine :)

Speedy and (RIP) Stuart on Activities - Mon, February 11 2008

well i just got home with speedy. he's still pretty groggy, but is starting to wake up. they redid his blood work, and it seems that his test in january was possibly accidentally switched (haha, switched blood tests, like in a soap opera!) and that his kidneys aren't as bad off as once thought. everything looks really good, except his white blood count is high, because of the infection from the bad teeth. the only teeth they had to pull were his two canines, i call them his FANGS!! both were pretty gross, and came out easily, and there's a few icky looking ones in back, but dr. hicks said those would reabsorb into the gums. yes, you heard me right, reabsorb. apparently in cats, the teeth break down, kind of chip away, until there's nothing there, and they go back into the gum.i did not know this! learn something new every day, LOL! anyhow, he's kinda drunk right now, he's still in his pet carrier. he has some antibiotics to take, but i am hoping he has a full recovery. the vet says he will. thanks peeps for the good thoughts for my buddy. :)

Well, I'm glad that everything went well for Speedy. I'm sure he'll look even more ferocious without fangs. I sure hope Trixie doesn't make fun of him. As for the bone/teeth thing, Dad said that humans do the same thing. He said he could always tell an old person's jaw from a young one's because of the amount of reabsorption from teeth, socket, and jaw. He thinks that sort of thing is cool, but I just find him a nerd. I guess if that is what pays for my food I can't complain. Wish Speedy a quick recovery for me.

Poor Speedy! Sorry to hear that you lost your teeth. Do they make kitty dentures?
