Give it a rest...

Pit*Bull*Princess on My Blog - Mon, January 28 2008

Alrighty, I know everyone is SOOOOO upset with the new changes here on Indypaws. Well, I'm always the one to speak up so here goes...

Give it a rest. The Site Managers, Designers, ect., are trying so hard to make this better. We are just going to have to get used to this until they have a chance to fix this. Just please don't leave, cause nobody wants you to go. I'm not a huge fan of the changes either but I'm willing to deal with it.

Anyone agree with me? Anyone?

*sigh* THANK YOU! Its one thing that so many people are complaining about....but go to Indy.com and its the same there...and no one thinks anything of it! Many other forums are that way...you see the avatar from the person who spoke last. Maybe what we really need is to train ourselves to go to the channels of topics we want to discuss, like they do on IndyMoms...the site is getting big enough, with so many posts, that what you're noticing, is that posts drop down pretty quickly. THAT's why you go to the channel to see discussions/find old comments, etc. right?

We're all dealing with these changes. Now that we KNOW something is being done, I think everyone will feel better. Having so many people waiting for a response all day was frusterating. I don't really care how indymoms is or indy.com because I, personally don't go there. Why do all of these "indy" sites have to be the same? I guess animal people don't think like the rest of the world of bloggers!

kirby, i'm no "techie" by any means, but since all the sites are connected on the same server and all, my guess is that with them all being set up the same way, it makes it easier to maintain and work on when there is an issue. if you all remember, the week before last, indy star's server went down (right when we had the relaunch here)and it did effect this site, as well as indy.com. (i don't get on indy moms, so i don't know about them, but i would guess they did too)so, what i'm trying to say, it's all connected, so probably that is why they are trying to make them similar in their setup. i think that there must be more "techies" on indy.com, because if there's any site issues there, everyone doesn't go nuts. like our pets, i guess we pet people can be creatures of habit, LOL.

I assume that's what they are trying to do, too. I'm sure it is easier....but, but, but..... we don't like it. :(

Perhaps this is where the idea of a free market comes into play. I think people have voiced their concerns on both sides and I'm sure IndyPaws has taken notice. If enough people stop logging onto the site and it begins to lose hits (losing demand), something will be done. If people continue to log on and participate, life will continue as usual.

I'm not crazy about the setup, I won't lie, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to keep coming on. It just is harder to follow. Not quite sure why it had to be changed.

I've kept quiet until now, but as evil as MySpace can be... it would be nice if this site were more like the boards over there. A person can see 1) the avatar and title of who posted the original post, 2) the avatar of the most recent responder AT THE SAME TIME, 3) HTML is allowed, 4) line breaks within posts (not just original) are allowed, makes for MUCH MUCH easier reading that a huge blob of words. I could go on, but reading long responses is very hard for those of us with short attention spans... As for the other boards being "that way". There's reasons I don't go to them. Too confusing. An example of my favorite format would be the forums at MTBR.COM (example page: http://forums.mtbr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44 ) or HMBA.ORG where it's easy to tell who has posted, if there's a recent reply and if it were a post that I personally had replied to...

It's good to hear from someone who has had a lot of experience with other boards, and those suggestions are great if they could be implemented.

I'm just a single person with no social life. So I post away in between chats with the cats. Scary thing is, I've been reading/posting on the MTBR site since '98 and have been granted "Old Phart" status there. ;)

HA! Deanna, you are sooo funny. I will stay but, I may not post as much. I am looking for a different site.

I don't mind some of the changes made on the site. But I like going to pet talk first to see who posted. It can be frustrating not able to see who originally posted until you click on it. I don't look by categories. I feel that it would be too time consuming and I like to look at different posts.
