I need a name!

Stella on Behavior - Sun, January 27 2008

Hello everyone! I am Milo's new sister. I was adopted this past weekend from HSI. I haven't actually met Milo or Jasmine yet (mom wants to take me to the vet first), but I have smelled him under the door and I can't wait to meet him! I think he's excited to meet me too! I am super sweet and cuddly...I love to curl up in my new mom's lap. Anyways, the problem is that she can't decide on a name for me. She likes Stella. Dad likes Jade (b/c my eyes look green up close). She also thought of Joyce (Milo's girlfriend on Milo and Otis) and she found Lucyfurr (Lucy for short) online and thought it was funny. What do you guys think? Or can you think of anything else that might fit me?

We here like Jade too. Good luck with the search!

Another for 'Jade'. You and Jasmine can be the "J" girls. Jasmine has a flower used for making perfumes, Jade is a precious stone (from http://www.behindthename.com ). Good luck!

Yep, Jade gets our vote too. Mom loves the name, but dad doesn't like it so well so mom will never get a "Jade" of her own....

How about Emerald? Emmie for short?

Hey Yogi -
Emmie is cute too (or even emmy). We are surprised that so many people have agreed with Jade, but hey thats great - isn't it? Have you made up your mind yet? We are dying to know. Please keep us up to date.

Thank you everyone for your input on my new name. Mom is still not 100% sure, but she is leaning toward Stella. She does like Jade, but feels that it is not feminine enough to fit my dainty personality. I finally went to the vet and they said I was healthy! so I got to meet Milo last night, but he just hissed at me and scared me under the dresser :( I hope he can grow to love me. Jasmine likes me though, and wants to play with me, but I am not quite ready to play with her yet. I have been sneezing alot too and Mom is afraid I may be allergic to something in my new home. I sure hope not! Can cats be allergic to other cats and dogs?

Oh, I dunno about "Stella"...I always hear someone from "Streetcar Named Desire" screaming that (was that it?)...not too dainty.
Here's a link with tons...I like Jilli(an) and Monique and Tori (Victoria) and some like that... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061003194951AARBJXd

Most cat allergies tend to show as sore/bald spots on the cat where they're itchy and lick themselves too much. Or if it's a food thing, the cat can get the runs. Sneezing may mean a URI, or it could just be a minor reaction to recent vaccinations (should only last ~24hrs if that is the reason). My cats sometimes sneeze the day after Vaccs. Just keep an eye on her, if it's just sneezing, discharge from nose/eyes is clear, and she's eating/playing normally... it's likely just a virus (like people get) that'll just need to run its course. If she starts getting yellow/greenish goop in her eyes or nose, she could need antibiotics to help clear her up.

Should also mention, growling and hissing between new cats is pretty normal. Just keep an eye on them whenever they're together to make sure there isn't any fighting (more than hiss/growl) going on. They need time to work out territory issues.

We love Stella! It's of Latin origin and it means star. We're sure you're a little twinkle star! Was that corny? Anyway, we really like it!
