Some of you may recall that I went on a paranormal investigation of the Hannah House on Saturday with the group Proof Paranormal. It was really cool! I've tried to post it several times but have been having problems with my posts not going through. We got there around 8 and they took us on a lights on tour of the house and gave us some history about it. The didn't want to tell us too much about what people have experienced there because they didn't want to put ideas in our heads. Luckily we had the lights on because half of the basement is still set up from the Halloween haunted house. I would have peed my pants if I had come across that devil's face or mummy in the dark without knowing it was there. After the tour, it was time to go lights out. That happened while I was in the bathroom but luckily those lights stayed on. My sister wasn't so lucky though, she was in the hallway waiting for me when it went dark. We were turned loose then for the rest of the night. Members of Proof were there if you wanted help or had questions but they basically left it up to you. They had a set up with four infrared cameras and someone watching the laptop at all times. That was kind of fun to do when you were trying to warm up. It's a really old house with really bad heat so it was a challenge to stay warm. The attic and basement had no heat so we couldn't stay there for long periods of time. Some people had all kinds of equipment with them but most had only digital cameras. There were people from Kentucky, Cincinnati, and Michigan. Most people said that this was their first investigation but everybody watched Ghost Hunters on the Sci Fi Channel.
We did have a few unexplained things happen while we were there. We were in a room known as Grandma's room when I got a very strong smell of roses. It was so overpowering that it gave me a headache. You could literally point to the smell but it did move. We checked the room out for possible sources but found none. My sister smelled it too several times. We were leaving the room when some other people came in and smelled it too. I went to one of the employees to ask them about it and they confirmed that it happens quite frequently. They believe that Grandma's hanging around when you smell that. My sister took some pics but I haven't seen them yet. Mine don't seem to have anything strange on them. I also smelled the roses in the upstairs hallway later in the night but never as strong as the first time. Later, we were in the attic with 2 guys doing EVP work. All of a sudden, we heard scraping or dragging sounds coming from a corner. This happened several times and was unlike any other sounds we had heard up there. It happened right by my sister and she said it sounded more like footsteps to her. She was ready to run if they got closer!! Those were our 2 big experiences. I did have some heaviness in my chest while in the basement. I also felt like I was choking at one time but it didn't feel like something was choking me. It was more like I was having a hard time breathing. I'm not sure what everybody else experienced. We left about an hour early because we were exhausted and still had to drive home. The Hannah house is doing these overnights as well. The one for this weekend is filled up but there's one in Feb. It sounds like you can arrange one if you have 15 or more people. Wouldn't it be fun to have an IP Ghost hunters night????? For more info, check out www.thehannahmansion.org or www.proofparanormal.com I grew up on the Southside hearing all the stories about Hannah house. I never imagined I would be sitting in the basement where the slaves died, in the dark, and live to tell about it!!!!!
Happy ghost hunting!
