Has Your Pet Caused a Family Feud?

Abby on Boarding - Mon, January 07 2008

I'm just curious ... has your pet ever been the cause of a family feud or led to the silent treatment?

It has for me. A few years ago my boyfriend's cousin agreed to watch my dogs over a long weekend. When I discovered he took horrible care of them ... there were definite signs ... my boyfriend and I confronted him, he got all defensive and tried to blame everyone and everything but himself.

I won't go into all the details, but it got really ugly. To this day, my boyfriend and I have not talked to him. I have learned to be very, very, very selective in who I will let watch my dogs.

i have never had to leave my pets with anyone but right now for temporary placement my cat is with my grandmother but she is spoiled so i am not worried about it. sometimes my dad would threaten to get rid of john mayer but i always cried my way out of it and i wouldn't talk to him for days. so i suppose in a sense but never under the circumstances of yours.

I wouldn't call it a family feud but sometimes I (miley) don't always go poop on schedule and daddy gets really mad and yells at mommy for getting a dog. Then he calls me stupid and mommy doesn't talk to him for a long long time... but she spoils me rotten when he does that so I don't mind. (Its an inhouse feud)

Not little ol' me! Except when Dad thinks we (the dogs) get more attention than him!

Not when I came to live here but before Mommy and Daddy adopted me they fought a little. Mommy wanted me and Daddy said she was too busy with school and everything else. But here I am! And Daddy says he couldn't have made a better choice than me.

Mommy and Daddy went round and round over me. When Mommy showed up with me Daddy wasn't too mad but when he found out I might be staying he was livid. He isn't a veteran rescue person like Mommy so he couldn't understand why Mommy had to get involved. But after learning things about my previous life he decided to tolerate Mom for a while. Then when I broke my leg and needed orthopedic surgery Daddy really stood up for me. We had the option of putting me in a splint and seeing how it went and I would forever be disadvantaged OR paying three thousand for orthopedic surgery. Well Mommy works at a doggy daycare and is in college and Daddy is working full time and going for an apprenticeship program. So money is not the most abundant thing in our house. But Mommy thought about it and didn't want me to have a useless leg but she didn't have the money and they didn't do payment plans. Mom didn't know what to do but Daddy came to her and said to do whatever we needed to make it so I could have a normal life. And here I am today. And Daddy says all the time that I am worth it. The good news is that I am 100% better and got all my mobility back. Plus it was only $2,228.00. It's still a lot but Mommy and Daddy took it as a positive.
