Anyone ever had Lyme's disease?

Titus on My Blog - Fri, December 28 2007

Holy Cow, Titus is one sick puppy. He's been favoring his left hind leg for a little while now but it wasn't a constant thing. I scheduled an appt with our new vet Dr. Kapke and he thinks that Titus has Lymes disease and a torn ACL. The Doc thinks that the Lyme's has caused arthitis in his knee and may have done some kidney damage. Due to the possible kidney damage Kapke didn't want to sedate Titus in order to check out the possible torn ACL and knee further thru x-rays. I know what the torn ACL is and how it'll be fixed but I know almost nothing about Lyme's in dogs. If you have any info please pass it on... xoxoxo Lynn-the sick puppies' mom

Daisy gets the shot every year.
While on our Grand Canyon vacation we stayed at a dog friendly motel and met a man whose dog was recovering from Lyme disease. This dog was very large and was having a hard time walking. The owner said that it is a nasty disease. He never heard of a shot to help prevent dogs from getting the disease.
I hope Titus doesn't have it.
I did read that the disease can be in a dog's body for a long time before any signs of the disease shows up in the dog. Good luck...we will say a prayer for Titus.

My brother, Butch, had surgery for a torn ACL this summer. He would hold his leg up sometimes, and some days he would run like crazy and we would play like we always had. But, then he would come in the house and hold his leg up. My mom took me to the vet last week because I started to act the same way and she thought she was being overly cautious because what are the chances two dogs would have the same injury in three months time?! Well, it turns out I have a torn ACL too! I couldn't let Butch get all the attention and loving from my mom could I?!

I am having my surgery on Monday and my mom is not looking forward to it, I am a BIG girl and weigh 15 pounds more than my brother. I won't be able to climb the stairs for awhile and we have A LOT of stairs in our house.

Dr. Lee in Anderson is doing my surgery because he did Butch's. My mom really liked him when he did Butch's surgery. I am having a different kind of repair because I am bigger and younger.

We know about torn ACL's at our house but we don't know anything about Lyme disease.

We will think happy puppy thoughts for you!
