In today's paper, the Metro section, page B2, there was an article about Darcie Kurtz. She was nominated as a Star Neighbor, one who makes a difference in the lives of others in the Central Indiana community. For those of you who don't know her, she is very active in the rescue world, through many different organizations. This article focused on FIDO and the good work they do for outside dogs. Darcie founded it, and has gotten partnerships and grants with vet clinics, Habitat for Humanity, pet supply companies, etc. to help with FIDO's work. I know there are a number of IP members who have helped FIDO as well. As soon as I get one more promised donation of food, I will be calling them for a pickup of a bunch of donated items to help those poor babies who are left outside in this cold weather. FIDO also provides spay/neuter services, dog houses, food, and, most importantly, education about dogs and their need to be inside as members of the family when possible. It was a nice tribute, and it's good to see something positive about dogs and people who are helping them.
