Man, I lay down for a little nap, and when I got up there were 4 new pages of posts! Must not be a whole lot of folks doing after Christmas shopping! So anyway, I'm home, minding my own business since I can't drive anywhere, and I get a call from my husband who is outside of our driveway gate. He asks if I can open the gate to let him in because he is "indisposed." I thought maybe he had the puking thing that Chase's dad has, and maybe he just threw up on himself or something. So I let him in only to find that he has a kitten draped around his neck while he is driving! Yep, my husband, the cat magnet, has found a stray kitten. He was in St. Paul, IN, on his way back from Cincinnati, stopped in the parking lot of a church where he meets his target practice buddies on Wednesdays, when this cat starts meowing loudly and running toward him. The other guys are NOT cat people to say the least, and are making fun of him, but this little girl knew who would love her and care for her, and just kept coming. She was very thin, and very trusting, because she let him scoop her up and put her in the Tahoe, where she proceeded to ride draped around his neck for the whole way home, about 45 minutes! So we now have a little tiger striped girl in his study area with food, water and a litter box. She let us put her in a cat carrier to get her into the house from the car, and, of course, our cats were sniffing the carrier closely, a little miffed to say the least. She must have eaten for 5 solid minutes, she was so hungry, purring the whole time. She is probably around 3 months old, has a VERY long tail, and a very sweet disposition. We couldn't get her into the vet until Friday AM, so will keep her isolated from our critters till we make sure she is healthy, and my husband has a whole day full of clients scheduled tomorrow, so she can be the therapy kitty. The dogs have not met her yet, and will only get to do so with a door in between them, as Maddie's definition of affection and a cat's version are usually very different. We have often been successful in finding homes for strays from among Bruce's clients, but may need to call upon the IP community later. We will make sure she gets spayed, shots, etc. So, we're up to 6 temporarily!
