Fried my whiskers

Basil on Behavior - Wed, December 26 2007

Yesterday mom and dad had friends over because we don't have family who lives here in Indy for Christmas. They brought over a turkey fryer to cook the turkey. Have I ever mentioned that I love turkey!!

Mom and Dad have been trying really hard to keep me inside. I hadn't been outside in over two weeks. Well their friend doesn't know my sneaky ways and I scooted outside. When they weren't looking I took a sniff of the turkey fryer. Ohhhh, it smelled so good. Then I found out that it was really hot. A few of my whiskers were singed and I ran back inside as soon as the door was opened. Mom scolded me for a little bit and then gave me a hug because I wasn't hurt any worse.

Later when the turkey was done she gave me a few bites. Yummy!!

You really have to be more careful. I know it's hard cuz I think cooking food smells soooo good too. Mommy always yells at me cuz I try to lick the oven when it's on. She says it's hot and will burn me, but sometimes all I can think about is how good it smells. Glad you weren't hurt any more than just a couple whiskers.

One time Dad cut Gigi's whiskers off! I can't imagine the torture, but Dad said he was young, and it was too funny! He said she kept running into the sides of the wall when she turned and everything! Poor Gigi.

OOOoooh Basil! I bet that smarted. Hopefully you learned a lesson and see why it is so much better just to stay inside. I did something like this one time only it was the hair on the back of my tail singed off by a candle. It was my fault cause I was up where I wasn't supposed to be.
