I feel like a bad 'parent!'

Tabitha on My Blog - Thu, December 20 2007

After work yesterday, I was in a huge rush to get ready for yet another holiday celebration. Love the holidays, not a big fan of the hussle all the time!

Anyway, I was in such a hurry, I accidentally locked Seth (my cat) in my bedroom closet! I thought it was weird when I came home 3 hours later and he didn't come running up to me. Then I opened my closet to pick out my clothes for the next day and there he was taking a snooze!

Now my childhood cat, Tigger (God rest his soul...) had a really bad bladder problem. Had I locked HIM in the closet for 3 hours, he would have peed everywhere. So, old habits die hard. I cleaned out my entire closet, smelling for the that horrible smell. But Seth is a good boy, I think all he did was sleep. I just feel awful. Please tell me I am not the only one to have locked my cat in a closet!

Oh shoot, no! We've all been locked in closets at one time or another. I prefer to be locked in the big closet upstairs, but hey, the pantry is not bad. Cookie seems to get locked in the hall closet, Pearle likes the pantry, like me. Don't worry! We cats kinda like the peace and quiet!

Let's see between Zoey and I, we've been trapped in the coat closet, kitchen cabinets and mom's bedroom. I think both Zoey and I have been trapped in mom's bedroom for about 6 hours...and we've never made a mess.

I've been locked in the coat and linen closets several times. Mom tells me I didn't belong in there to begin with, the nerve!

Oh, I lock Kinky in a closet on a regular basis, because she can be very stealthy and likes to curl up and hide, and not answer when I call her. She's been in all night before with no accidents. If you are a bad parent, it looks like you are in good company!

NO! You are not bad. Why do cats do this. I have left Ellie, the naughty FEE-LION in my closet too. She has spent the day out in the garage and a full night in the back yard. She sneakes out without me seeing her and hides. At the end, she is always begging to come in. She will never learn.

Yea, talking about bad parenting? I've been inadvertantly locked in the closet before. And I'm pretty hard to miss. I enjoy sniffing around the laundry basket and then BLAM, the next thing I know, it's dark in there the door shuts, and I hear human voices getting more faint. Like Oreo says, it is kinda peaceful in there. If nothing else, I make a nest by dragging out the clothing in the basket and taking a snooze.
