Uncle Bill's RANT!!!

Hound Girl on Grief - Thu, December 13 2007

OK, what has it been, a little over a week since that story was on the news? you had to be living under a ROCK to not have heard about it, right? today, a client comes in with their new dog (along with the older one) both to be groomed. guess where they got this pup? UNCLE FREAKIN BILLS!!!!! GRRRRR!!!!! um, HELLO???? you KNOW they have to have heard about all that, and where their pups come from. it just irked me to no end. it was one of my sister's clients, so i didn't have a chance to talk to them. i just had to vent here about this. the poor pup was terrified of it's own shadow, submissive peed constantly, the poor thing. this is why sometimes it isn't even worth wasting my breath to try to educate some people, because they DON'T CARE. :(

Yeah, I know. I think that most people know better they just can't refuse the cute puppy in the window ... the one with the waggily tail. Or they just try to convince themselves that the dog did not come from a puppy mill. I don't think you should give up educating because, while not everyone will listen, there will be people that will.

We would beat ourselves to death trying to talk sense into some people. I just don't understand. I guess it's an "immediate gratification" thing. Poor puppy.

We've just got to keep doing what we're doing. It's hard when you don't seem to see any progress but you just keep doing it. Mom's little nephew asked about us a couple of weeks ago. She told him we were all rescues and he was very happy to hear it. He went on about how you shouldn't buy puppies from pet stores because they're sick and their families live in yucky conditions. Mom was happy that she's apparently making a difference with him and he's aware of such things. Keep the faith!

If you can, come out to the protests on Saturday. Hopefully we can educate some well meaning people.

Would it be possible to put signage in your grooming shop to reflect the puppy mill & BYB problem without harming business?

Some people view it as they are rescuing the puppies that come from the puppy mills. Because if no one bought them, they would still be at the puppy mills, right? Wrong. -_-
