Becoming an indoor cat Day 4

Basil on My Blog - Mon, December 10 2007

Well today is my fourth day of staying completely inside. Some of you know I was an indoor/outdoor cat and mom is trying to make me a indoor cat only.

Today mom was really proud of my because I did not attempt run outside as soon as a door was opened, but I still tried to be sneaky. ;)

Mom bought me a new toy today since she thought I was getting bored. She bought me furry mice. I love them. The best part is that she put them in catnip before giving them to me. Yum!! The two legged kids threw them for me so I could chase them. I threw it in the air and the batted it around like Beckham.

She put a chair at our back window so I can look outside. I still occasionally will cry and whine to go out usually this lets mom know I'm bored. She'll get my fishing pole and I'll chase the feathers around for a while.

Today mom was wondering what I was doing. I was trying to bury my food. She wonders if this is a hunting instinct that cats do to protect their food. Any ideas as to why I do this?

Mom is hoping with the bad weather that I will stay inside more and get used to it. She is still hoping to win dad over on adopting a sibling for me. Maybe once we move. Keep your paws crossed that the home sells quickly so we can move.

Oh, my grandma is coming from Florida this weekend to visit me and I guess the rest of my family. Mainly me I'm sure. Who could resist a face like mine?

You are doing a GREAT job! And so is your family, for recognizing that you need to play a little bit every day, and you need to be able to see out so you can check out what's happening in the world. I occasionally bury my food before I eat it. Strange but true.

Fuzzy mice rule! I LOVE mine... I just play and play and play. Sometimes I even forget to eat! Mom usually has to take it away and hide it so that I'll eat my food, then she'll give it back later.
