Favorite Animal Movie

Mama Muttblood^..^ on My Blog - Thu, November 29 2007

Just to continue to raise spirits around here, I will throw this one out. What is your favorite animal related movie of all time? There are lots, but I think it would have to be the original cartoon 101 Dalmatians. It came out in 1961, and I saw it in the theater with my mother, probably. I loved everything about the movie, including loving to hate Cruella De Vil and her henchmen Jasper and Horace. The twilight bark, The Colonel and Sgt. Tibbs who hid the puppies, the great song that Roger wrote about Cruella, and the puppies, Patch, Lucky, Penny, and Roly-Poly, and Pongo and Perdita. I've been hooked on dogs ever since.

Well, most of the ones I've seen are sad, so I don't like them.
Loved the lion king, but when Simba's dad died, there wasn't a dry eye in the house (including my husband - don't tell him I said that).
Probably about 10 years ago, there was a movie call Cats and Dogs. It was about the secret war between the two, that the humans weren't aware of.
It was a comedy with Jeff Goldblum in it.

Wow! I saw Cats and Dogs and thought it was not so good. Holly, you are right, many of them are sad. I loved Turner and Hooch until the very end. I probably will never watch it again. I did like Homeward Bound, though, with Michael J. Fox and Sally Field. It had a happy ending.

Godzilla's mom here - It has to be Lady and the Tramp. The spaghetti scene is so cute.:)

We all loved "Best In Show", and "For The Love Of Winn Dixie".

I love the cartoon Disney version of Robin Hood. When I was 4 or 5, I wanted to marry Robin Hood (the fox) and live in Sherwood Forest! I guess I didn't realize cartoon foxes weren't real and definitely not appropriate husbands! :)

Best in Show is definitely one of my favorite movies! Eddie Murphy's Dr. Doolittle was cute. Or maybe I just enjoy Norm MacDonald as a scruffy sarcastic talking dog?

We love LOTS of animal movies (even the ones that make Mom cry and hug us tight) but our latest one are Flica, Dreamer (yes, both horse movies), Eight Below, and Because of Winn Dixie.

Mama's favorite was "Lady and the Tramp" and the animated Disney "Robin Hood"...her fav character was Sir Hiss in Robin Hood...he was hilarious. Of the newer shows, "Homeward Bound" is her favorite.

Jazz's mom here. I like the original "The Incredible Journey" from back in the 60's. The ending always makes me cry. Especially when the old Bull Terrier makes it home. I like the newer remakes but the original is the best. :)

Wow, there's so many on here I forgot all about. Best in Show was great - didn't even think about it.
Dr Doolittle was good - I like Eddie Murphy.
Was the Horse Whisperer the one where that little girl loses her leg and her mom drives to Montana from New York to she the trainer guy? I love that movie too. Although, in a way, it was sad too. Gosh, can't we just laugh at something?

As always we must mention Smokey and the Bandit starring Basset legend, Fred. Mama also likes Secondhand Lions. Not really an "animal" movie but its got some adorable dogs and it's a pretty cool movie. And Benji. We watched a Benji movie the other day.
